Venkateshwar Rao's surgical practice spans the brain and the spine: craniotomy and brain tumour excision at one end, spinal decompression and stabilisation at the other, with neurotrauma and head-injury work running through both. He holds an MCh in Neurosurgery on top of a DNB in General Surgery, and 22 years of operative experience. Much of his caseload arrives as an emergency - head injury, brain haemorrhage, acute spinal cord injury - alongside planned surgery for cervical and lumbar disc disease, hydrocephalus and spinal tumours. His interests include minimally invasive spine technique and skull-base approaches. He operates at Begumpet and Kompally.
